Zomato delivery boy opens food pack and eats, video goes viral
Zomato, a restaurant search discovery platform has once again embroiled in a controversy after one of its delivery boys carrying a food parcel and consuming food out of its boxed orders has gone viral on Social Media.
In the two-minute-long video which is being widely shared on social media shows that a man wearing Zomato t-shirt sitting on a bike appears to be on his way to deliver his order. The boy takes out a package and eats from the order which is meant for delivery. After eating from the second box, he seals it and keeps it back inside. Later, he is seen adjusting the sealing of a smaller packet and leaves from the spot.

The video was shared on Twitter by a user @Madan_Chikna, who wrote a caption,”This is what happens when you use coupon codes all the time. Watch till the end.”
The video is being aggressively shared, liked and retweeted on Twitter. While many others have shared their concern over the services provided, others tried to troll Zomato savagely.

Taking this video seriously, Zomato shared a statement and a blog about the incident. In its blog Zomato wrote: “If true, this is unfortunate and not in line with our beliefs. We take this very seriously and will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, and other precautionary measures to ensure we safeguard against this”
It adds, “The person in the video happened to be a delivery partner on our fleet. We have spoken to him at length and while we understand that this was a human error in judgement, we have taken him off our platform.”

“Additionally we will educate our delivery fleet of over 1.5 lakh partners to highlight or escalate any such deviations, while also encouraging our users, the custodians of our platform, to highlight the smallest anomalies,” the statement said.
The restaurant and search discovery platform has also thanked the user for highlighting such grievances actively.
