Zero plus zero doesn’t produce hero: Javadekar on Opposition’s alliance

Taking a jibe at the opposition’s efforts to unite themselves, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that zero plus zero doesn’t produce a hero. He said in connection to the opposition parties’ alliance to form an anti-BJP front to counter the ruling party in the 2019 General Elections. He said that the alliance lacked agenda and the only aim is to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Neither there is any ideological basis of the alliance nor does it have an agenda for the people. Its only aim is to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Javadekar said at a press conference in Jaipur on Thursday.

“Adding several zeros to a zero cannot produce a hero. The alliance is a non-starter and will not start even if you kick several times,” Javadekar said while referring to the postponement of opposition parties’ meeting scheduled for Thursday in the national capital.

The Human Resource Development minister trashed Congress leader Manish Tewari’s allegation that the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik’s decision to dissolve the Assembly came following directions from Narendra Modi and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). He said that the Governor is capable of taking such decisions in consultation with the President.

Javadekar claimed that Pakistan had the intention of creating mess in the Jammu and Kashmir, an important state. “Its issues are sensitive so they have to be dealt with accordingly. The Panchayat elections were conducted successfully in Jammu and Kashmir and now assembly elections will be held,” he said.

The Rajasthan election in-charge of BJP Javadekar said that the saffron party was ready to give the account of work done by the BJP both at the centre and Rajasthan, Congress wasn’t interested in discussing the real issue. He said, Congress’ press conferences are not complete without raking up issues of Rafale deal, demonetisation and Ram Temple.

“The Congress is pained as there was no middleman in the defence procurement deal (Rafale). Demonetisation was not a scam as the money that was received in banks was accounted for,” Javadekar said.
