On Tuesday, March 9, Zayn Malik slammed The Grammy Awards which is all set to air on March 14. Nearly after four months of the nominations being announced, the singer accused them of being bias and for not being transparent in their nominations.
The ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ singer slammed and tweeted as: “Fuck the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.“
A few years later, the singer clarified that his tweet was not personal. “My tweet was not personal or about eligibility but was about the need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process and the space that creates and allows favoritism, racism, and netwokring politics to influence the voting process”
This is not the first time that any musician has been critical of the GRAMMYs. Earlier, Back in November, The Weeknd called the process ‘corrupt’, and even Halsey accused the Recording Academy of prioritizing industry connections and advertising dollars after she did not receive any nominations.
None of Zayn’s albums were eligible for consideration for the 2021 Grammy Awards. The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place on March 14, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Paramount+ and Grammy.com. online.
