Young boy from PoK crosses LoC by mistake, India sends back with box of sweets

In a friendly gesture in an unfriendly environment between India and Pakistan, the former has extended a hand of humanity, helping an 11-year-old boy from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to reach his parents. The Indian officials handed Mohammad Abdullah to Pakistani officials on Wednesday after four days he had unknowingly crossed into the Indian side in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Patrolling the Line of Control, the Indian Army apprehended Abdullah in Degwar area of Poonch district on June 24.After the necessary questions asked, the Army officials handed the child to Jammu and Kashmir police. The state police then carried out the necessary formalities and ensured a safe release of Abdullah in PoK.

Citing humanitarian grounds, a defence spokesperson said that Abdullah is young and with these confidence-building measures between India and Pakistan are boosted. “The Indian Army stands by its ethos of being a humane force and maintains sensitivity while dealing with innocent civilians,” the spokesperson added, reports NTDV.

However, the boy was not released bare handed. he was presented a box of sweets and a set of new clothes too.
