UP CM Yogi Adityanath now criticizes Aurangzeb for his policies
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was in Lucknow on Wednesday to address a rally in Banjara Samaj rally. While addressing he started criticising the policies of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
He targeted the emporor claiming that he “forced Kashmiri Pandits to change their religion.”
Adityanath said, “Kashmiri Panditon par jab Aurangzeb ka atyachar prarambh hua tha… Aurangzeb se mukti ke liye Kashmiri Panditon ka ek group Guru Tegh Bahadur ke paas Delhi mein aata hai aur apni peeda batata hai ki jabardasti humara dharmantran ho raha hai… humein dabaya ja raha hai… apmanit kiya ja raha hai (When Aurangzeb began torturing Kashmiri Pandits, to free themselves, a group of Kashmiri Pandits met Guru Tegh Bahadur in Delhi and told him about their sufferings and how they were being forcibly converted.
He told the gathering, “Guru Tegh Bahadur asked them to tell him (Aurangzeb) that they would accept his religion only if their Guru accepts it.”
He further added, “Aurangzeb ko laga ki yeh to bahut aasaan kaam hai, unhone Guru Tegh Bahadur ko giriftar kar ke anek prakar ki yatnayein deni prarambh ki… Lekin Guru Tegh Bahadur tas se mas nahi hue (Aurangzeb thought it was an easy task and got Tegh Bahadur arrested and tortured him, but he did not budge).”

Not long ago, Adityanath had said that Mughal emperor Akbar was not great and that only 16th century Mewar king Maharana Pratap was. He praised Pratap’s persistence in winning back his forts after years of fight in the Aravalli hills and his refusal to accept Akbar as king.
UP CM called Akbar a foreigner and said, “‘Turk who could not be trusted’. “Akbar told Maharana Pratap to accept him as ‘badshah’ (king) and that he will not interfere in his kingdom Mewar. But Maharana Pratap said: I cannot accept Akbar as the king… he is a Turk and he will remain so… he will hurt our self-respect in the garb of friendship… we can’t accept a ‘vidharmi’ and a foreigner as our ruler,” Adityanath said.
