Hindus and Muslims in Agra have had communal tensions between them after some women from the right-wing organisation performed “puja” inside the mosque to prove that it was initially a place of worship for Lord Shiva.
This comes after several right-wing organisations have repeatedly claimed that the Taj actually, “Tejo Mahalaya.”
The women performing the Pujas at the Taj had a belligerent mood as they believed that they have every right to do so if the Muslims can offer Namaz at the shrine.
“If Muslims are being allowed to offer Namaz here on all days, then even we can do our pujas at our Tejo Mahalaya,” Meena Devi Diwakar, the district president of the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad said, as quoted by The Times of India. She performed the Pujas with the “dhoop baati” and even outer the Ganga Jal inside the premises of the Taj Mahal.
Following that the women even shouted, “I’m Namashway”.
Diwakar added that she would purify the Tejo Mahalaya with the Ganga Jal, which has been contaminated by a few people.
Brajj Bhushan, the CISF commandant said that they weren’t of this entire development as they are not allowed to enter the premises, adding that the ASI can only comment on this.
ASI Superintending archaeologist of the Agra circle Vasant Swarankar said that they didn’t find any incense sticks when they arrived on the spot.
He also said that they would take action against the right-wing activists once the incident gets the backing of CCTV footage.
