The #MeToo movement has swept across India bringing out many surprising and harrowing stories on its way to every corner of the country. Many prominent names have been exposed for their alleged sexual misconduct and harassment of women both at the workplace and at parties or other gatherings.
Now a Mumbai based legal aid and mental health counsellor Sukhnidh Kaur has come up with a powerful song to support the movement and also deliver an important message about the consent of a woman.

In the song, she describes through her lyrics how a woman’s consent is misinterpreted at several junctures of life. “Its fun being sexual. But only when it’s consensual. Lines are blurred and grey, boy you better learn to navigate,” she sings in the video on Instagram.
“…Not a No, not a Maybe, boy you need a, yes, otherwise it won’t be considered a yes,” she sang playing the Ukulele.
Sukhnidh captioned the music video as a ‘heal’ for the traumatic stories that are being shared on #MeToo.
“Here’s a one-minute masterclass on consent because some don’t seem to get it…this week has been traumatic with #MeToo and music is how I heal. Take this as a fun nursery rhyme as you will, as long as it teaches someone something. Lol,” she wrote.
She also took a jibe at Union Minister MJ Akbar, who has been accused of sexual harassment by journalist Priya Ramani and more than a dozen women. The minister after returning from his foreign tour filed a defamation case against Ramani on Monday.
“I’m dedicating this one to MJ Akbar ?” said Sukhnidh in her caption of the video.
