It has been three nights of protest and unrest in downtown Kenosha Tuesday night. The unrest is due to the shooting of Jacob Blake a black man by the police here. The shooting has left the father of five young children, three of whom witnessed the incident, paralyzed from the waist down.

Blake had been attempting to break up a fight between two women. He was struck by four of the seven shots, all fired by one officer. The shocking incident took place in front of his sons aged 3, 5, and 8. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who represents the Blake family, told ABC News on Tuesday.

The incident sparked outrage in Kenosha a lake Michigan city. The shooting occurred three months after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. It had sparked nationwide protests against police brutality and racism.

As the protests turned violent for two consecutive nights, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency. He added that more state National Guard troops will be deployed, as the city of Kenosha braced for the third night of unrest.

Hundreds of people remained at the protest in defiance of the curfew, screaming at police and lighting fires.
