WhatsApp is busy experimenting with new features. The Facebook-owned messaging platform could soon launch a new feature. Yes, WhatsApp has started testing reactions to messages on the app. It will allow users react to the messages with emojis. The feature is quite similar to the one already on Instagram, Twitter and iMessage.
Users will be able to place an emoji on a message to express what they feel about it. The reaction feature is at present in the early stage of development.
As per Wabetinfo, the upcoming feature was spotted during beta tests. The users were asked to update their version of WhatsApp beta to see the message reaction. “Today we can finally announce one of the first messaging features that’s coming on WhatsApp: reactions! You already know what is a reaction: it’s usually an emoji that you can place on a message to express emotions. Instagram, Twitter, iMessage already support message reactions and today we can start to discover the progress of their development.”
The feature will first be available on the Android version of WhatsApp and then for iOS users. What’s App will display a message alerting you that you are using an old version that does not support reactions. In this case, you won’t be able to see the reaction and WhatsApp will ask you to update it to the latest version.
The social media giant is also testing a number of new features. They are multi-device support, transfer of conversations from Android to iOS, and more.
