Facebook owned WhatsApp has come under scrutiny and alot of users have apparently shifted to other message sharing applications. This happened post the application updated its privacy policy. Netizens started slamming the application for allegedly leaking the messages of a private group on search engines. Today, WhatsApp has issued a clarification about the revised privacy policy and also clarified that it won’t affect the messages.
In its statement, WhatsApp stated that their recently revised privacy policy does not affects the privacy of messages with friends or family. “Instead, this update includes changes related to messaging a business on WhatsApp.”
“Our privacy policy update does not affect the privacy of your messages with friends or family. Learn more about how we protect your privacy as well as what we do NOT share with Facebook here,” shared WhatsApp in an official tweet post today.
In the statement issues by WhatsApp, it clarifies few major points to its users.
- WhatsApp cannot see your private messages or hear your calls and neither can Facebook.
- WhatsApp does keep logs of who everyone is messaging or calling.
- WhatsApp cannot see your shared location and neither can Facebook.
