WhatsApp is rolling out new settings for archived chats. It will give the users more control. They can keep the archive chats hidden even if they receive new messages. WhatsApp said in a statement that many users have been demanding that archived messages should hide in the Archived Chats folder. It should not move back into the main list when a new message arrives.
Now with the new feature Archived Chats, any message thread that is archived will now stay in the Archived Chats folder. This is even if a new message is sent to that thread. The chats will be permanently hidden. It will only be visible if the users manually choose to unarchive a conversation.
WhatsApp said in a statement, “We know that not everything always needs to be front and centre for you. We want to make sure that WhatsApp remains a private and secure place where you can speak to the people who are most important to you and where you’re in control of your messages.”
The messaging platform has been testing this feature for quite some time now. In 2019, the feature was spotted on the beta version but it was later rolled back. Last year it was back and since then the company has been trying to roll out to users on the stable version.
