Weather update: Kashmir receives first snowfall of season
As winter is about to begin, there are several parts of the country which have started witnessing a dip in temperature. On Wednesday, Srinagar received season’s first snowfall. Beside Srinagar, other regions in the valley including Drass received a fresh spell of snowfall.
According to a report by news agency PTI, “Dawar, Tulial and Baktore areas of Gurez also witnessed moderate snowfall on Tuesday evening.”
The national capital was also reported having a cool morning with the minimum temperature settling at 19.2 degrees Celsius.

However, the Meteorological (MeT) Department has forecast cloudy skies with maximum temperature expected to hover around 34 degrees Celsius.
The states Uttarakhand and North Punjab are likely to witness isolated rains. However, northern plains including Delhi would remain dry and warm, but the system would slow down the wind speed and increase the humidity over the plains, thereby resulting in an increase in pollution.
South India is the only region in the country to see rains. A cyclonic circulation is marked over south-east Arabian Sea, off Karnataka Coast and a trough is extending from this system up to interior Tamil Nadu.
Thus, we expect light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over South Karnataka, Kerala, interior Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema. Bengaluru and Chennai would also see light spells.
