It was in the 11th over of the innings when bowler Pat Cummins induced an edge from the Kohli’s bat. The ball took a deflection and flew to the slip cordon where Khawaja hung on to complete a scintillating one-handed catch to send the Indian captain back to the pavilion for just three runs.

Kohli was India’s third batsman to have been dismissed in the first session of play after openers KL Rahul (2) and Murali Vijay (11) perished early.
Kohli had earlier won the toss and had opted to bat first in the four-match series opener. But their plans of posting a big score on the board took a hit when the Australian pacemen struck, breaking the back of the Indian batting.
