The 15th of November would always continue to be one of biggest dates in the history of Indian cricket as this was the day when the legendary Sachin Tendulkar had made his first appearance for India in the whites. And then followed 15,291 runs in 199 more appearances for the country as the man still continues to be an idol for many young and senior cricketers alike in the modern world.
Of the many cricketers he has inspired, one is the Indian captain Virat Kohli, who has always credited the legend for his love towards the gentleman’s game and it isn’t surprising that the 30-year old took out time to remind everyone of this historically significant date in Indian cricket.

Taking to Instagram, Kohli shared a photo of him along with Tendulkar along with the caption, “The first day my cricketing inspiration started playing for our country. I was lucky enough to play with him and to be part of his farewell game which was nothing short of magical. To be compared to him is nothing short of embarrassing. Thank you for the memories @sachintendulkar. The G.O.A.T.”
Kohli, earlier in the day had also posted a video where he said that he felt proud of the performances of the Indian women’s cricket team who have been doing well in the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and have made it to the semi-finals. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side decimated New Zealand in the opener before toppling arch-rivals Pakistan in the second game. A win against Ireland on Thursday would secure their spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
In the video, Kohli further urges star Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri, wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant and ace shuttler Saina Nehwal to spread the movement, adding that the Indian jersey doesn’t discriminate on any ground.
