Amidst speculations that Virat Kohli has been sacked as the captain, Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday clarified that the Indian skipper will remain the team’s captain for the 2018-19 season.
We can clarify on record that the news is incorrect and Virat Kohli is very much the captain of RCB for the next season as well,” a team spokesperson was quoted as saying by India Today.
Reports were also out that AB de Villiers has been appointed as the new captain of the franchise.

But a team official confirmed that there are no changes in the team captaincy even if there were several changes made in the coaching set-up.
Kohli, who has been with the team ever since the inception of the league was appointed the team’s full term captain in 2013, two years after serving as the vice-captain. He has, however, failed to lead them to a title glory despite reaching the IPL final in 2016. They had lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight runs that season.
But their time in the league has seen more disappointment than success. RCB has failed to reach the playoffs five times in 11 seasons, including the last edition where they finished sixth.
