Despite the recent talk surrounding Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s attitude on the field, it cannot be denied that he has been in sublime form all year and come the Boxing Day Test match, he has the glorious opportunity of equalling a record set by his idol Sachin Tendulkar.
If Kohli manages to score a hundred in the match, then he would equal the record of most hundreds in a year across formats. Tendulkar holds the record of most hundreds in a year when he scored 12 in 1998 and Kohli, needing one more three-figure score to equal that mark and hold the record jointly with the legend.

Kohli also is just 181 runs short of becoming the highest run-scorer in a calendar year across all formats. He currently has 2,653 runs in 2018 which is 180 short of the record held by Australian great Ricky Ponting (2,833 in 2005).
Kohli’s on-field attitude hasn’t gone down too well with many former players but Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc came out in ‘support of the Indian skipper, saying that he was a’ fanstastic captain’ to play with. The duo have shared the same dressing room while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
