Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the best cricket player in the world right now. The Indian skipper has won many games for the team with his deadly batting and sharp fielding abilities. Talking about his career in cricket, M.S.Dhoni plays a major role in it.
Vira Kohli revealed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a saviour for his successor Virat Kohli, who revealed that the talismanic former skipper prevented his ouster from the Indian team many times. It seems that Kohli’s journey as a player from a young batsman to the captaincy in all formats in 2017 would not have been smooth if it has not been for skipper Dhoni.
In Kohli’s beginning days both in ODIs and Tests, he didn’t show flexibility and his place wasn’t protected but Dhoni had tremendous faith in his talent and abilities.
Kohli, in a tribute to Dhoni on bcci.tv, spoke about M.S.Dhoni and said, “He (Dhoni) was always the person who guided me initially and gave me opportunities. He gave me ample time and space to grow as a cricketer, saved me from getting dropped from the team many a times,” India’s captain in all formats, said.
During a chat show, Kohli also said that it was a blessing to have a player as experienced as MS Dhoni in the side especially in the initial years of his captaincy.
For the unknown, Kohli made his debut against Sri Lanka in 2008 and the batsman went on to make just 12 runs in his first match. It was on August 18, 2008, when the Indian captain Virat Kohli, made his invasion into international cricket debut in the 50-over format.
