Australian speedster Mitchell Starc labelled Virat Kohli as a “fantastic captain”, having played together for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
Kohli displayed his aggressive self on the field and had heated exchanges with Australian skipper Tim Paine during the second Test match in Perth. While his on-field behaviour has received a lot of flak from former players like Mitchell Johnson, Starc defended the Indian skipper.

“I’ve played a couple of IPLs with Virat and he’s been fantastic to play under, as a captain,” he said while interacting with reporters.
“Obviously, he’s a fantastic player. The way India play this series and go about their cricket, it’s up to them,” he added.
Starc was bought by the Bangalore franchise in 2014 and expectedly turned out to be one of the crucial figures in the team. In the IPL auctions for the 2018 edition of the tournament, he was roped in by the Kolkata Knight Riders but couldn’t compete following an injury. KKR released him last month.
The four-match Test series is currently locked at 1-1 with the Boxing Day Test match approaching at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
