The legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun, once again made a name for himself with a spectacular five-wicket haul for Mumbai that helped his team romp to a nine-wicket win over Gujarat in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.
The left-arm pace of Arjun was too hot to handle for the Gujarat batsmen as he broke the back of their batting, sending back Vardhman Dattesh Shah (0), Priyesh (1), LM Kocher (8), Jaymeet Patel (26) and Dhruvang Patel (6) in the 8.2 overs he bowled where he gave away just 20 runs.
Gujarat, owing to Arjun’s fiery spell were skittled out for just 142 runs in 49.2 overs. In response, Mumbai got off to a solid start with openers Suven Parkar (67*) and Divyaanch (45).
The duo added 108 runs for the first wicket before Divyaanch had the woodwork behind him rattled by a ball from SM Prajapati.
Number three batsman Pragnesh Kanpilllewar (27) then joined hands with Parkar as the duo knocked off the target in 38 overs.
In September, Arjun was given a call-up to India’s U-19 squad for the Youth Test series against Sri Lanka where he got a wicket in his first over.
