Vikings probably one of the most popular Television shows right now. Created by Michael Hirst, the historical drama Vikings premiered on History Channel in 2013. But fans soon fell in love with Ragnar, Lagertha, Rollo, Floki, and many more characters. Therefore the makers quickly renewed it for a second season.

The initial seasons followed the life of legendary Norse figure Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his travels alongside his brother Rollo (Clive Standen), and his best friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård). The series gradually shifted its focus to Ragnar’s sons and their own journeys, especially Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig).

The legendary series is at present on its sixth season. Fans have already had a few shocks. One of the biggest ws the death of legendary shield maiden, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), killed by hallucinating Hvitserk. They also saw how Ivar plunged his sword into Bjorn’s chest. But do not be disheartened, Michael Hirst has confirmed a spin-off, titled Valhalla. It will stream exclusively on Netflix (not History or Amazon), the streaming giant ordering 24 episodes, and will shoot at Ashford Studios in Wicklow, Ireland. Hirst added that “You’re going to see Christian Viking armies fighting Pagan Viking armies”.

Hirst told Entertainment Tonight that the show was leading up to 1066 and the invasion of England by a descendant of Rollo, so fans will also be seeing some familiar faces.

According to The Wrap, it will be set 100 years after the OG show and will follow the most famous Vikings who ever lived, including William the Conqueror, Leif Erikson, Harald Hardrada and Freydis who will all blaze new paths as they fight for survival in an ever-changing and evolving Europe.
