Kollywood director SP Jananathan of Peranmai and Iyarkai fame was rushed to a hospital in Chennai. The filmmaker was found lying unconscious at his residence. The director is currently busy with the social drama Laabam. The movie features Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles. Jananathan has been busy with post-production work related to the film.
As reported by sources to TOI, ” Jananathan had left the editing suite and went to his home for lunch in the afternoon. But since the director, who is unmarried, hadn’t turned up even after 3.30 pm, his assistants had gone to his house only to find him lying unconscious in the middle of the hall. They immediately called for an ambulance and had rushed him to Apollo Hospitals on Greams Road in Chennai.
Sources added The preliminary reports given by doctors stated that the director is brain dead. However, a senior neurologist has been called in to check on the director and provide treatment. On hearing the news, producer Azhagan Tamilmani, who had gone out of Chennai to a temple, and his family members, have returned to the city and are at the hospital.
SP Jananathan had marked his debut with Iyarkai and won a National Award in 2004. He has has also worked as a producer. The 2015 Tamil movie Purompokku Engira Podhuvudamai marked his first film as a producer. The movie was co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures.
He has also teamed up with director N Kalyanakrishnan and penned the dialogues for the 2015 Tamil movie Bhooloham. The sports- drama film starred Jayam Ravi and Trisha in the lead.
