Legendary Bengali Actor, Soumitra Chatterjee Breathed His Last At The Age Of 85. He Was Suffering From COVID-19 Infection During His Last Moments
Legendary Bengali actor, Soumitra Chatterjee breathed his last at an hospital in Kolkata on Sunday afternoon. He was suffering from COVID-19 infection and was kept on a ventilator for a while. He was 85-year-old.
Soumitra Chatterjee was taken to Kolkata’s Belle Vue Clinic hospital on October 6, right after a day when he tested positive for the coronavirus. Reportedly, he came in contact with the virus while shooting for one his project. West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee, Bengal Minister Aroop Biswas, Alapan Bandyopadhyay and several renowned people rushed to the hospital after learning about the unfortunate demise of the veteran actor.
Before his demise he was kept under strict medical observations and group of doctors were treating him. An official statement confirming unfortunate news read, “We declare with heavy heart that Shri Soumitra Chattopadhyay breathed his last at 12-15 pm at Belle Vue Clinic today (15 November 2020). We pay our homage to his soul.”

Soumitra Chatterjee left a legacy of great films. He had collaborated with Oscar-winner Satyajit Ray apparently for fourteen films. He even won several prestigious awards after his contribution towards Indian cinema.
