Yesteryears' actress Kumkum passes away at 86, Naved Jafri mourns the loss
Yesteryears’ actress Kumkum has passed away at the age of 86 years. The veteran actress acted in more than 100 films. notable among them are ‘Mother India’, ‘Kohinoor’, ‘Ujala’, ‘Ek Sapera Ek Lootera’, ‘Naya Daur’, and many more. She also worked in the first Bhojpuri film ‘Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo’. The reason for her death hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Naved Jafri took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the actress and tweeted, “We have lost another gem. I have known her since I was a kid and she was family, a superb artist, and a fantastic human being, innalillahe wa innailaihe raajeoon. Rest in peace kunkum aunty”

An extraordinarily graceful dancer, Kum Kum had shot to fame after appearing in Guru Dutt’ s ‘Aar Paar’ in the song Kabhi aar kabhi paar laga teer e nazar. Kumkum was seen in a small role in ‘Pyaasa’. She was also paired alongside Shammi Kapoor in ‘Char Dil Char Raahein’.
Kumkum was married to Sajjad Akbar Khan and had a son.
