Uttarakhand Disaster: 6 Bodies Recovered From Tapovan Tunnel, Toll Now 53
Uttarakhand Glacier Burst: 53 bodies recovered so far, search on for survivors
Eight days after a flash flood wrecked Uttarakhand‘s Chamoli district causing destruction of a hydroelectric station. The flash flood was apparently triggered by an avalanche in the upper reaches of the Alaknanda river system. Five bridges and another power project was also severely damaged with many going missing. The Disaster Response team has recovered 53 bodies so far. Around 150 people are still on the missing list. The authorities are now on the lookout for survivors of any.

A total of 8 bodies have been recovered from here (Tapovan tunnel) so far. Operation is still underway, we are working 24/7. 7 bodies have been recovered in Raini, so a total of 15 bodies have been recovered from the two work sites: Aditya Pratap Singh, Deputy Commandant, NDRF
Aditya Pratap Singh, Deputy Commandant, NDRF said that a total of 6 bodies have been recovered from the Tapovan Tunnel. 7 bodies have been recovered in Raini. Rescue operations are still underway 24/7 to find the survivors.
Three bodies were retrieved today from the Tapovan tunnel, taking the body count to 54 so far. Cases of 179 missing people have been registered at Joshimath Police Station till now. Relief and rescue operation continues: Chamoli Police #Uttarakhand

The bodies of the deceased after identification have been handed over to their family members.
