A 70-year-old retired cop Abdul Samad Khan was beaten to death in a broad daylight on Monday by three men in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad. The entire accident has been captured in CCTV camera. The video of the accident shows, a man donning a red shirt repeatedly attacking the victim.
Later, another man joined the culprit to assault the Abdul Samad Khan, the 70-year-old man tried hard to shield himself from the assailants but falls down on the ground. The irony is, there were several two-wheelers who had slowed down to watch the accident, but none of them came forward to help this octogenarian cop. Abdul Samad Khan, who retired as a sub-inspector in 2006, when he was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to death.
According to reports, the man in the red shirt was identified as Junaid, who already has several cases on him. The Allahabad Police said that initial investigation points towards a property dispute. An FIR has been registered against 10 people but no arrests have been made so far in the case.
The three attackers have been identified as Junaid, Mohammed Yusuf and the third person’s name is yet to know. Among three attackers, only Mohammed Yusuf has been arrested and remaining two are on the lurch.
Victim’s brother, Abdul Wahid, claimed that the accused, Junaid, is a land-grabber and was after a piece of land owned by Khan. “Many in our locality have complained to the police about him in the past but there has been no action. He continues to threaten people in the area and act with impunity,” Wahid said.
The Allahabad High Court has taken cognisance of the incident and asked for a report from police by Wednesday (September 5). The court also asked why have culprits not been arrested despite the incident was captured on CCTV.
