COVID-19: US warns citizens to avoid travelling to India, issues travel advisory
United States has advised its citizens to avoid travelling to India as cases of Coronavirus surge.
The Coronavirus cases in India have been increasing day by day. The second wave of the virus has hit the country in the worst manner. Amid this, the United States has advised its citizens to avoid traveling to India amid a massive surge in COVID-19 cases in the country.
News agency ANI tweeted: “Amid a surge in COVID cases (in India), travellers should avoid all travel to India. Even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting & spreading variants and should avoid all travel to India. If you must travel to India, get fully vaccinated before travel: CDC, USA”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel advisory for Americans, that read as:
- If one has to travel to India, they should get fully vaccinated before travel.
- All travellers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands.
- If a person is fully vaccinated, then they do not have to get tested before leaving the US, unless the destination requires it.
- No self-quarantine is required once the person arrives in the United States.
On Monday, The United Kingdom has already added India to its travel “red list” in view of the surge in coronavirus cases in the country. Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has also cancelled his trip to India due to the rise in the COVID-19 cases.
India reported 2,59,170 new Covid-19 cases and 1,761 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
