Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam's Uri: The Surgical Strike to be screened for free in Maharashtra
Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike, which turned out to be a first blockbuster film of 2019 is all set to re-release on Kargil Vijay Diwas in Maharashtra. The decision of re-releasing Uri: The Surgical Strike is taken by the makers of the film.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Uri has managed to cross Rs 250 crore mark at the box office. Speaking about its re-release, Aditya Dhar said to Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a wonderful initiative by our Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and I’m glad people will get to see the film for free this time.”
Ronnie Screwvala added, “The idea of making the film was to instil a sense of pride in the hearts of every Indian and to highlight the incredible service of the armed forces for our nation. I’m honoured to be a part of this initiative wherein Uri will be showcased across 500 theatres in the state on Kargil Vijay Diwas.”
Interestingly, Uri: The Surgical Strike, which made on a budget of merely Rs 30 crore has collected Rs 250 crore in India. The film was the highest grosser Bollywood film of 2019 but it was recently dethroned by Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh.
Yes, re-releasing of Uri would not help to break Kabir Singh’s record as it will be screened for free and for one day only. It is to be noted that, re-releasing of Uri comes days after Marvel re-released Avengers: Endgame with some additional footage, which dethroned Avatar and became the highest-grossing movies of all time.
The re-releasing of Uri: The Surgical Strike might affect the box office collection of other Bollywood releases such as Arjun Patiala and Judgemental Hai Kya.
