After the allegation raised by Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia who accused central government of dropping his name from a plaque and invitation meant for the inauguration of a highway in his Guna constituency, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today apologised to the Congress MP in the Lok Sabha.
Immediately after the questioning hour Jyotiraditya Scindia, said, “the state government did not invite him for the inauguration of the highway and the plaque carrying his name was changed by the state government.”
Mr Scindia added that to invite local MPs to such events is the siting government protocol, he further went to say, ‘I want to move a privilege motion” against the state chief minister.
Responding to the allegation, the Roads, and Highways Minister said that he was aware of the matter and it should not have happened.

“As I was present there, I should be responsible for this. MPs name should have been there. I apologise on behalf of everybody and next time it will not happen,” Mr Gadkari said.
Despite that apology, Mr Scindia said that it is the responsibility of the state government to protect the interest of local MPs, he added that an action should be taken against people who are responsible for this mistake.
As persistent about his demands, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said, “Should I use a baton to provide protection (sanrakshan lathh leke dun)”.
Ms speaker said that Mr Gatkari did apologise, which shows his greatness that he has tendered an apology on the matter.
Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “This is not good.”
Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the issue should not be politicised as a senior minister has already apologised.
He further add that during UPA rule, BJP MPs were also not invited in such events.
