Uncle Sanjay Kapoor to play Sonam Kapoor’s father in The Zoya Factor
Reports suggest that Sanjay Kapoor will play the role of Sonam Kapoor’s father in The Zoya Factor which also stars Dulquer Salmaan. The film is an adaptation from the book of the same name written by Anuja Chauhan.
In the film, Dulquer will be seen playing the role of an Indian skipper while Sonam will play an executive in an advertising agency. The film will be helmed by Abhishek Sharma, who directed John Abraham and Diana Penty-starrer Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran.
When Sanjay was asked about it, he confirmed the news and stated to TOI, “I received a call from the producer when I was in New York. Later, director Abhishek Sharma called me up to give me a gist of the story and discuss my part. I was waiting for a good film to come my way and this just seems perfect.”
Sanjay concluded by saying, “Besides Mubarakan (which featured his brother Anil Kapoor and nephew Arjun Kapoor), I haven’t worked with my family in any film. So, it’s an exciting opportunity for me to act alongside Sonam. We have started the reading sessions and I can’t wait to commence the shoot. We are a close-knit khandaan and Sonam has grown up in front of my eyes. She is like my daughter, and there’s nothing better than working with your own family.”
Sonam has also started preparing for the film. She took to Instagram to share her picture of getting her hair permanently permed for the role of Zoya. She captioned the stories as, “Almost Zoya,” “Permanent perm! to become Zoya! the things I do for my job,” “So I’ve been blessed with super straight silky hair and I’m taking the plunge into curly.”
