Stella Tennant, one of Britain‘s top models, has passed away at the age of 50, British media reported on Wednesday. Tenant’s unconventional looks helped her break into the world of fashion in the 1990s. She went on to become the face of Chanel and also graced the covers of popular covers of fashion magazines around the world.
Tennant’s family confirmed the news in a statement and said, “It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of Stella Tennant on 22nd December 2020. Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed.”
They also asked for privacy at this time. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Tennant shot to fame after being photographed for British Vogue at the age of 22 in 1993. She also worked for Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Burberry.
Versace paid tribute to Tennant on Twitter, saying she was “Gianni Versace’s muse for many years and friend of the family”.
Tennant belonged to an aristocratic heritage. She was the granddaughter of the 11th Duke of Devonshire, Andrew Cavendish, and Deborah Mitford.
Tennant is survived by her four children with David Lasnet.
May Her Soul Rest In Peace.
