UK has updated its accepted vaccines list to clarify that Covishield is accepted. But it still does not recognize the CoWIN certificate. Therefore under the new guidelines, people travelling from India who were vaccinated with Covishield would still have to quarantine. Indians will still have to take tests on arrival in the UK & quarantine for 10 days.
The UK had drawn flak over not recognising Covishield. They had plans to place flyers from India in the category of “unvaccinated”. Also, those who were fully vaccinated with Covishield. This drew the ire of many. The non-recognition of the Covishield vaccine by the UK government has adversely impacted students and professionals.
The Indian government had then warned of “reciprocal measures” if the UK does not address its concerns over the new travel rules relating to COVID-19 vaccine certification.
