Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed during his team’s UEFA Euro 2020 clash against Finland. The shocking incident took place at the Telia Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Saturday. He was soon administered CPR on the pitch as his teammates formed a circle around him to shield him. Eriksen was later taken to a hospital. The Denmark FA said in a statement that Eriksen was awake, stable, and undergoing further tests in hospital.
The match between Denmark and Finland was suspended for almost two hours but resumed later that night after Eriksen was declared stable.
During the 42nd minute of the match, 29-year-old Eriksen rushed to receive the ball but he collapsed face-first as the ball hit his knee. The crowd at the Parken Stadium in the Danish capital went silent after the 29-year-old fell to the ground. His teammates soon gathered around him as he was administered CRP. He was soon carried off to a loud ovation from the 16,000-strong crowd at the stadium and transported to a hospital.

“Christian Eriksen is awake and is undergoing further examinations at Rigshospitalet,” said a statement from Denmark FA a little later.

The game resumed after two hours. But Denmark, despite dominating possession, lost to Finland 1-0.
