U-19 Asia Cup: India thrash UAE by 227 runs
India registered an emphatic 227-run win over the United Arab Emirates in their second U-19 Asia Cup match in Savar, Bangladesh on Sunday.
Openers Anuj Rawat and Devdut Padikkal scored centuries, while spinner Siddarth Desai picked up six wickets.
Indian skipper Pawan Shah won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision was further vindicated by the twin centurions Rawat (102) and Padikkal (121), who together stitched a 205-run opening stand.
Captain Shah(45) and middle-order batsman Sameer Choudhary (42) then chipped in with vital forties before Ayush Badoni (21) applied the finishing touches as India raced to formidable 354 runs for the loss of just did wickets in 50 overs.

Choudhary’s runs came in just 19 balls and included two fours and four mammoth sixes, while Badoni hit three maximums in his nine-ball stay at the crease.
Earlier, Rawat had made 102 off 115 balls with 10 boundaries and five sixes, while Padikkal complemented him equally with a 121 from the same number of balls and hut 15 fours and two sixes.
In reply, UAE never really got going and lost wickets in regular intervals to eventually bundle for just 127 in 33.5 overs.
Left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai was the most successful of Indian bowlers with six wickets in eight overs and five balls giving away just 24 runs.
Ali Mirza (44) was the top scorer for UAE and it was his 53-run partnership with Figy John (24) that helped the Arab side cross the 100-run mark.
Fahad Nawaz (22) and Wasi Shah (15) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures as UAE lost as many as six batsmen to single-digit scores.
Earlier, India had begun their U-19 Asia Cup campaign in style after beating Nepal by a massive 171 runs in their opening Group A match of the competition.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (104) had scored a century, while Siddharth Desai and Harsh Tyagi picked up 3/19 and 3/21 wickets respectively to bring up the win.
In the other match of the day, Sri Lanka beat Hong Kong by 10 wickets in Chittagong.
