In a untoward incident in Greater Noida, two buildings collapsed in Shah Beri village in Greater Noida near Delhi on Tuesday night. The incident took place when a six-storey under-construction building fell on top of four-storey building, in which 18 families lived. As per to the initial reports, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has recovered three bodies and trying to help the trapped people.
According to the reports, as soon as the two building collapsed at around 8:30 pm in the night, police teams were called to help the people in crisis. The police then called the NDRF team from nearby Ghaziabad to help in the search and rescue operations. Though the exact reason for collapse is yet to be ascertained, residents living in the vicinity have claimed that poor quality of materials were used for construction.
Extra police personnel have been deployed in the area to control the angry people, who alleged that the rescue team arrived at the spot after one and half hours, which further delayed the rescue operations and led to the death of three people. The crowd further alleged that the rescue operation is slow and suspected that toll might rise leading to suffocation of people stuck under debris.
Speaking to NDTV, one of the local said, “It took such a long time since the collapse but no rescue workers have reached. Not even an ambulance.” On the other hand, rescue teams blame monsoon and water-logged potholes for the delay in operation, adding that heavy machinery have been deployed for speedy rescue of the people.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe to the incident and as per the reports of NDTV, police have arrested three builders associated with the construction.
