Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is highly regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in the game of cricket. He is undoubtedly a cricket legend and spearheaded the Pakistan bowling attack for most of the years he played.
But Akhtar recently was at the receiving end of heavy trolling by netizens after calling himself the “Don of Cricket” in a post on Twitter.
One of Cricket’s fastest bowlers and a Pakistani legend, the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ as Akhtar was called, said on the post, “Don of cricket as they called me but never enjoyed hurting people but I must say when I was out there I just ran in for the love of my country & for the people around the world ..”
But the fans did not take it lightly and soon many users started reminding him how he was taken to the cleaners by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar during the 2003 World Cup encounter in South Africa. Sachin made a match-winning 98 off 75 balls smashing the Pakistan bowlers all over the park as India won by six wickets.
Akhtar had made his international debut against the West Indies in 1997 and still holds the record for bowling the fastest delivery in cricket after clocking 161.3 KMPH during the 2003 World Cup match against England.
The express bowler took 178 wickets in 46 Test matches, while also claiming 247 wickets in 163 ODIs.
