The Ghaziabad Police summoned Twitter India managing director, Manish Maheshwar for the questioning session. The investigation of the case apparently involves tweet posts about the assault of a Muslim man based in UP’s Ghaziabad district. On Monday, the officials apparently send the official summons to him. The social media giant has apparently conveyed its message to the Police post the summons, that MD Manish would be available for the questioning session through video call.
As reported by Hindustan Times, Maheshwar was expected to visit the Loni Kotwali Police station along with his lawyer at 10.30 am on Thursday i.e June 24. However, according to the latest reports, he has not appeared so far before police for the questioning session, according to Atul Sonkar, the Circle Officer quoted by news agency PTI. The Twitter India MD lives in Bengaluru (Karnataka) and the notice was issued to him on Monday i.e June 21.
For the unversed, according to the reports, the Ghaziabad Police booked Twitter Inc, Twitter communications, news websites, a few journalists including few other people in the case. They were allegedly booked in the circulation of a video in which the elderly man, Abdul Shamad Saifi claims he was allegedly thrashed by some young men to chant religious lines on June 5. The police reportedly claim that the video was shared to cause communal unrest.
