Tweets: Well known personalities show support for Umar Khalid on recent attack
JNU student leader Umar Khalid survived by a whisker from being shot at by an unidentified attacker outside the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on Monday, barely a couple of days ahead of our 71st Independence Day.
He was present there to attend a rally called ‘Towards a Freedom Without Fear’ to protest against lynchings and crimes against women.
The location where this incidence took place is just 200 meters away from the Parliament house.

I seriously worry at the toxicity that makes someone attempt to shoot #UmarKhalid. From the time he came to public notice he has been declared guilty by kangaroo courts and not by the law of the land.
Shame on us.— Saba Naqvi (@_sabanaqvi) August 13, 2018

I want to say I’m shocked and surprised but I’m not. It was only time the online mob came out on the streets. And God forbid something happens tomorrow to someone the blood will be on our hands for not condemning the hatred enough.https://t.co/r55rpslDrm

Shocking attempt to kill #UmarKhalid – ironically outside Construction Club in Delhi. The hate speech and fake news by news channels targeting him and others as 'anti national' directly results in such murderous violence. Those burning Constitution are, of c not 'anti national'!
