2020 is coming to an end, and recently, Twitter India’s released its official annual report, #ThisHappened2020, based on the number of retweets, likes, and quote tweets by users. This year’s most top trending hashtag was #Covid19 which is not really surprising as there were people on Twitter searching for authentic information and the next two hashtags were #SushantSinghRajput, and #Hathras.
In terms of sports chatter, #IPL2020, #WhistlePodu, and #TeamIndia were the most tweeted hashtags. Talking about movements taking place across the country, the hashtags trending were #StudentLivesMatter, #ShaheenBagh and #FarmersProtest.
Talking about films, “there were more than 7,000 tweets per minute about television and movies this year,” reported Twitter In India, Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film #DilBechara, Suriya’s Tamil film #SooraraiPottru, and Mahesh Babu’s Telugu film #SarileruNeekevvaru were the most tweeted. The most-tweeted meme was #Binod in the year, which went viral in August.
