By tomorrow, you will know who will be the CM: Kamal Nath
Kamal Nath, chief of Congress in Madhya Pradesh, claimed that Congress will get mandate of people in the state. Also, he said that only after the results come on Tuesday, it will be known who will be the Chief Minister.
“From the past three months, I’ve been saying that the Congress will win 140 seats and I am sticking to my words,” he was quoted as saying by the media.
Kamal Nath also exuded confidence that Congress will win more than 140 seats in the just concluded polls. “We will win more than 140 seats,” Kamal was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
On the other hand, current chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also confident that ruling party BJP will retain power in the state. Madhya Pradesh has 230 seats in all and 116 is the magic figure. If exit polls are anything to go by, both Congress and BJP are within sniffing distance and any party could have the last laugh on Tuesday. No party will get a clear majority, according to several exit polls.
Madhya Pradesh went into polls on November 28 in which 2899 candidates contested among which included 250 women and five third gender candidates.
The Assembly tenure ends on January 7. For the record, BJP has been in power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003 and is gunning a fourth successive term in 2018.
