Tom Hanks has confirmed through social media that he and wife Rita Wilson have been tested positive for Coronavirus. The actor and his wife are in Australia where Hanks was shooting for a film about Elvis Presley’s life. Tom Hanks is the first prominent personality who has gone public with the news of having been infected with Coronavirus.
“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches,” he said in a statement. “Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers, too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.” In addition, He also said that he and Ms. Wilson “will be tested, observed and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.”
The announcement was met with an instant outpouring of support and well wishes from fans and other celebrities alike. “Wishing two of the kindest, coolest, most talented people in the world @tomhanks & @RitaWilson a swift recovery,” Mia Farrow said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Tom Hanks was in Australia shooting for a movie about Elvis Presley’s life. As per reports, he plays the role of Colonel Tom Parker in the movie. Production of the film is scheduled to begin on Monday. However, Warner has been one of the studios affected by the Coronavirus outbreak due to its large TV production division.
“The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world,” Warner said in a statement.
