Tokyo Olympics : India lose to Argentina 1-2 in the semi-finals of Women's Hockey; Will fight for bronze
Indian Women Hockey Team made history by making it to the semifinals. The team faced Australia in the QF at the 2020 Tokyo Games. The Rani Rampal-led team already created history by shocking Australia in the quarterfinal thanks to a goal by Gurjit Kaur. They won the match 1-0 and entered the semifinals. Today they are facing World no 2 Argentina in the semifinals.
Once again India was awarded a penalty corner and Gurjit Kaur calmly converts the penalty corner to a goal. India is leading by 1 goal. India has drawn first blood and is playing with a lot of confidence. Argentina made a couple of good attacking moves but the defenders stood firm and defended well to deny them the equaliser.
But soon Argentina scores in the second quarter. Maria Barrionuevo scores the equaliser from a Penalty corner for Argentina. The first half comes to an end with the two teams tied 1-1. Gurjit Kaur scored the opener in Q1 and Argentina equalised through captain in Q2. Argentina scored a goal once again after halftime. Maria Barrionuevo converts another PC to give Argentina a lead early in the third quarter. It is now India 1-2 Argentina.

India Team Trail 1-2 vs Argentina In Women’s Hockey Semis, Argentina beat India by a single goal to enter the finals of the Tokyo Olympics. India will now face Britain in their fight for bronze.
