A civilian and an Army soldier was killed and three terrorists were shot dead after multiple encounter broke out between militants and security forces on Thursday morning in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag and Budgam district. According to the report, a prominent Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Naveed Jaat alias Hanzla was trapped during an encounter but managed to escape.
Hanzla had made a dramatic escape from jail in February this year after killing two policemen, who had brought him to a hospital for medical check-up in Srinagar. If the report is believed, it was the second time over the last 15 days, he managed to escape during an encounter.
The Police suspect, he might have received bullet injuries while fleeing. “We believe he was hit by a bullet and is injured, but managed to flee,” senior police officer Munir Ahmad Khan told NDTV. A search operation is underway.
After the brief shootout, the terrorists have managed to escape from the house but, locals alleged that no terrorist was hiding in the house. The son of house-owner was also killed during the operation.
In a third encounter, the security forces engaged three terrorists trapped in a religious place at Chadoora in Budgam district, 28 km from Srinagar. The police said the terrorists took shelter in the religious place after they fled from a house where they had been hiding.
