Bollywood is one of the largest film producing industries in India and the producer of the Biggest Box Office Bollywood Movies too. India’s Hindi movie industry was not at all affected by the economic slump that has hit others. It has notched up box-office revenue of ₹3,700-3,800 crore in the first three quarters of 2019. Yes, the year 2019 had a number of movies making their way to the theatre close to you. There were movies that won the audience’s heart while certain big-budget movies that were eagerly awaited by fans went on to fall flat on the box office. 1. War — Rs. 378.46 Cr

War is a Bollywood action-thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand. The movie stars Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles. War is produced by Aditya Chopra. The highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year stars the hunky duo of Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan as master and disciple, who are pitted against each other in an epic battle of wits. The action-packed movie had released on 2nd October 2019 under Yash Raj Films. The movie is the story of a soldier and his secret mission. War is not only the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2019 but it also holds the record of highest opening day box collection for a Bollywood movie in India. The gross collection of War in the domestic market is around Rs. 378.46

2. Kabir Singh — Rs. 331.24 Cr

Kabir Singh is a Bollywood romance-drama, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The romantic drama released on 21st June 2019 is a remake of the hit South flick Arjun Reddy and has Shahid Kapoor playing the titular role o an alcoholic surgeon. It is Shahid Kapoor’s highest-grossing and his performance was critically acclaimed. The movie is the only ‘A’ certified movie that is one of the biggest grossing movies of 2019 with a gross collection of 331.24 in India.

3. Uri: The Surgical Strike — Rs. 289.68 Cr

The war drama is another highest-grossing Bollywood movie. It featured Vicky Kaushal, Mohit Raina, and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. Uri: The Surgical Strike is the dramatized version of the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army in retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. Vicky Kaushal played the role of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill and won appreciation galore. ‘Uri’ is an emotional ride all the way and gives you goosebumps with its scale and personality. Released on 11th January Uri went on to win four national awards which include the best director, best actor, best audiography, best music director. It has garnered Rs 289.68 in India.

4. Bharat — Rs. 251.27 Cr

Salman Khan won hearts with his act in Ali Abbas Zafar directorial ‘Bharat’ that is considered as the biggest Box Office Bollywood movie. The movie is based on a Korean film Ode To My Father shows the life of a common man from the age of 8 to 70. It also featured Jackie Shroff, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and many others in pivotal roles. Bharat was released on 5th June 2019, went on to break records at the box office. It minted around Rs 251.27 in the domestic front.

5. Badla — Rs.103.88 Cr

Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan after the super success of ‘Pink’ collaborated once again. This time it was for a thriller ‘Badla’. It is a reboot of the 2016 Spanish thriller film Contratiempo, about a man arrested for murdering his married lover. The Sujoy Ghosh directorial is a raw, emotive force with a gripping, atmospheric narrative. The director has once again managed to shines at this legal courtroom thriller. The gross collection of Badla in India is Rs.103.88

6. Gully Boy — Rs.165.58 Cr

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy is the highest-grossing Bollywood movie and India’s official entry for the Oscars. The Zoya Akhtar directorial is all about an aspiring rapper, who becomes a part of the intense underground circuit.The musical drama film based on the lives of Indian street rappers is one of the epic films created by Zoya and keeps you hooked till the end. ‘Gully Boy’ roared its way to triumph with a wholesome story and rocked the box-office.It was selected for the Best International Feature Film from India at the 92nd Academy Awards. The song ‘Apna Time Aayega’ becoming the anthem of Indian youth. Gully Boy’s gross collection in India is around Rs.165.58

7. Mission Mangal — Rs. 238.8 Cr

Released on 15th August 2019, Mission Mangal is based on India’s Mars Mission and depicts the life of scientists who played an important role in the mission. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the movie has an extended cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, and Sonakshi Sinha. The movie opened to mostly reviews from critics and collected Rs.290.02 crore worldwide on the box office. It faced tough competition from John Abraham’s Batla House on the box office but eventually emerged as the winner. It collected Rs. 238.8 at the box-office in India.

8. Kesari — Rs. 182.3 Cr

Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari is all about the last war fought by Havildar Ishar Singh, a soldier in the British Indian Army, and his 21 Sikh soldiers against 10,000 Pashtun invaders. It was jointly produced by Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Sunir Khetarpal under the banners of Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios. The movie went on to mint Rs. 182.3 at the box office in India.

9. Bala — Rs.135.2 Cr

‘Bala’ is all about Balamukunud who is quite proud of his luscious hair.  But his pride soon becomes his shame. As he approaches his mid-twenties, he acquires chronic alopecia, in simpler words, balding. After trying a number of recommended solutions, he finally decides on wearing a wig. Bala soon falls in love with Pari, who works for the company he does, and marries her without disclosing his baldness. The movie went on to collect Rs.135.23 at the box office.

10. Super 30 — Rs. 172.87 Cr

Starring Hrithik Roshan and Mrunal Thakur, Super 30 is based on the life of a mathematician Anand Kumar who is known for coaching underprivileged students for IIT-JEE. The movie was released on 12th July 2019 and collected more than Rs 172.87 at the domestic market. It is one of the highest grossing Bollywood movies.

11. Saaho — Rs.170.18 Cr

Baahubali star Prabhas made a smashing comeback in this action-packed drama that went on to be a biggest box-office film. The movie was written and directed by Sujeeth. Produced by Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati and Bhushan Kumar under their respective banners of UV Creations and T-Series. The movie also featured Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and others in pivotal roles. The gross box-office collection of Saaho is around Rs.170.18.

12. Housefull 4 — Rs. 231.32 Cr

‘Housefull 4’ is the fourth installment to the highly successfully Housefull series. It is directed by Farhad Samji and stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, and Pooja Hegde in the main roles. This comedy movie was released on 25th October 2019 on the Diwali weekend. It emerged as a winner on the box office collecting Rs. 231.32 at the domestic front alone.

13. Total Dhamaal — Rs. 182.09 Cr

Total Dhamaal is another movie in the list of top 10 Bollywood movies of 2019. This movie is the third installment to the Dhamaal series directed by Indra Kumar. The movie has a huge cast including Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaffrey, Esha Gupta. The movie was released on 22nd February 2019 and got a super hit status on box office India. Its gross collection in the domestic market is Rs. 182.09

14. Dream Girl — Rs. 169.36 Cr

Ayushmann Khurrana is back and this time around he is stealing hearts as Dream Girl in Raj Shaandaliya’s rom-com. Raaj Shaandilyaa’s film a clean, hilarious and unidimensional take on friendship call centers. Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role is a laugh riot. The movie also stars Annu Kapoor, Nushrat Bharucha, and Manjot Singh. The movie went on to mint Rs. 169.36 in India alone and went on to be one of the highest-grossing movies.

15. Dabangg 3 — ???

Salman Khan is all set to make your Christmas merrier with Dabangg 3. The latest franchise brings back Chulbul Pandey the Robin Hood cop and his Rajjo to the big screen once again. But this time around we will also get to see the handsome hunk romancing debutante Saiee Manjrekar too. There are high expectations from the movie as the last two installments had broken many records at the box-office in the domestic front.  Fans are expecting Dabangg 3 to be the Highest Grossing Bollywood film of 2019.

December will also see the release of Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama ‘Panipat‘ starring Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon, romantic comedy ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’, a remake of the 1978 film with the same name, starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday, and Rani Mukerji-starrer ‘Mardaani 2’. The year will end with Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg 3’ and romantic comedy ‘Good Newwz’, starring Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kiara Advani.
