Arun Vijay starrer Tamil-language film ‘Thadam’ was released on March 1. The notorious piracy site Tamilrockers has leaked the film through torrents on the same day it was released. According to the trade trackers, the film had an average opening. As ‘Thadam’ became the victim of the Tamilrockers that regularly uploads copyrighted content illegally, the film was able to earn around Rs 87 lakh in the first week at the box-office.
Notably, the film is directed by Magizh Thirumeni is an action thriller that also stars Tanya Hope, Vidya Pradeep and Smruthi Pradeep in the pivotal roles. Arun essayed a dual role in the film received appreciation from fans and critics, and even the film received a positive response. But the makers of the film and its cast are left upset after the film was leaked online.
This was the second time that Arun Vijay and Magizh Thirumeni joined hands for a film. Earlier they worked together for Thadaiyara Thaakka which released in 2012.
Importantly, many other films like Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gully Boy’, Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, ‘Anupam Kher’s The Accidental Prime Minister’ were leaked online by Tamilrockers.
Despite action by law enforcement agencies and even interventions by the courts including the Madras High Court, Tamilrockers continues to operate fearlessly.
