Telugu Actor Raavi Kondala Rao Passes Away At 88
Raavi Kondala Rao has worked in over 600 Telugu movies
In a tragic loss for the entertainment industry, Telugu actor and director Raavi Kondala Rao passed away at the 88. According to the media reports, Raavi suffered from a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Hyderabad. In a year marked by the loss of some eminent names in the industry, the sad demise of Raavi Kondala Rao has left the Telugu film industry grief-stricken.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu shared his pic on Twitter mourning the death of the veteran actor. He wrote, “The death of Sri Ravi Kondalarao, a senior actor, writer, versatile intellectual and artist, is tragic. In roles that evoke Teluguness, his acting is fun, adding humour. I pray to God to give peace to his soul.”
Raavi Kondala Rao is survived by his son. His wife passed away in 2012.
Raavi started his career as a journalist and gained renown before venturing into the Telugu Film industry. He made his foray into the industry as an actor in 1958 with the movie Sobha. Moreover, he also proved his mettle as a writer in movies like Pelli Pustakam and Challani Needa. He played supporting roles in movies like Ramudu Bheemudu, Thene Manasulu, Dasara Bullodu, Chantabbai, Pelli Pustakam, and Bhairava Dweepam.
Notably, Raavi Kondala Rao has worked in over 600 Telugu movies. He was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s 365 Days which released in 2015. Moreover, his wife Radha Kumari Rao, who was also an actor had around 600 movies to her credit. In fact, the couple had shared the screen in around 150 movies.
