Days after infectious Swine Flu (H1N1) killed more than 182 people in Rajasthan, the health epidemic has affected the state of Telangana too. As per the Government Institute of Preventive Medicine and Government Fever Hospital, at least 50 cases have recently been detected in the state.
The cases have been reported in last one week, said Dr Shankar, who is the Director of Government Institute of Preventive Medicine and Superintendent of Government Fever Hospital. Shankar said, as reported by NDTV, “In past one week, swine flu cases have increased. Till now, about 40 to 50 cases have been reported positive and these figures may increase in the upcoming days.”
Informing more, the director said that H1N1 cases have been tested positive in district hospitals as well. He added that the health officials in districts have been alerted and advised to take all preventive measures to tackle with the situation. In Telangana there are only two centres for testing of swine flu samples in Telangana namely, Fever Hospital and Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), said Shankar.
It is to be known that there were atleast 1,652 cases of swine flu reported in Rajasthan till September 30, as per the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) data. “A total of 4,484 positive swine flu cases were recorded in the country and 353 deaths occurred during the period,” as per the data.
