The Telangana government has announced a 10-day lockdown in the state from May 12. The decision was taken by the state government to curb the rising cases of coronavirus. The restrictions will come into force by 10 am on May 12. The state will remain under lockdown for 10 days.
As reported by sources to India Today, Telangana will go into lockdown from May 12. However, all activities will be allowed from 6 am to 10 am. “It has been decided to implement the lockdown for 10 days from 10 am on Wednesday, May 12. The Cabinet decided that all activities would be allowed every day from 6 am to 10 pm.”
Sources added, The cabinet also decided to invite global tenders for procurement of COVID-19 vaccine.
On Monday, 4,826 fresh cases were added while the toll stood at 2,771 with 35 more casualties. The total number of cumulative cases in the state stood at 5,02,187 with the total recoveries were at 4,36,619.
Apart from Andhra Pradesh, many other Indian states are opting for the lockdown to curb the second wave of coronavirus. Kerala is shut till May 16. Strict lockdown restrictions are imposed in Karnataka till May 24. Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are also under a two-week shutdown. In North Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh extended their ongoing lockdown till May 17. Rajasthan is also under a two-week shutdown.
In the Northeast, the Mizoram government has imposed a seven-day lockdown. Sikkim has clamped restrictions till May 16. The Uttarakhand government has imposed a strict Covid curfew till May 18. Nagaland too has imposed a lockdown from May 14. Maharashtra is considering an extension of lockdown till May 31st.
