Telangana Assembly elections: Congress finalises candidates for 40 constituencies

Beginning its preparation for the upcoming state elections in Telangana, Congress on Wednesday finalised the candidates for 40 seats.

The AICC Screening Committee headed by Bhakta Charan Das has finalised the candidates for 40 seats during a meeting with the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in Hyderabad. However, it is yet to decide candidate names for 20 constituencies as there are more than one aspirants.

The AICC Screening Committee and TPCC Election Committee will meet again on Thursday to finalise the candidates for 20 controversial constituencies. After finalising the list of Congress candidates for Telangana assembly elections, the AICC Screening Committee will submit the report to the party’s central leadership.

Notably, AICC Screening Committee led by Bhakta Charan Das along with other members Jothimani Sennimalai and Sharmistha Mukherjee are finalising the candidates for 100 assembly constituencies and TPCC has decided to allot 19 constituencies to TD, CPI and TJS.

Out of 19, TPCC has decided to allot 11 constituencies to TD and 3 constituencies to CPI and five constituencies to TJS. TPCC is clear on which constituencies to be allotted to TD and CPI. But regarding TJS, TPCC is not yet clear which constituencies to be allotted.
