Tejashwi Yadav has picked up the pieces from his father and is currently leading the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in a way his father Lalu Prasad Yadav used to do during his prime. Tejwashwi’s rhetorics and style match with his father in more ways than one.
A legitimate question that was lobbed to him from media on his marriage plans evoked laughter like it used to do during Lalu’s time. The younger son of Lalu though has categorically said that he will marry, but not before the 2019 general elections, as he will be “too busy” in between for a proper honeymoon.
On whether he got proposals of marriage, he was hit the question for a six from the mid of the blade. “Yes, I’m getting a lot of proposals but it will happen only after the Lok Sabha election next year,” Tejashwi said point blank during an event in Patna.
The hilarious reaction was an answer to scribes’ queries to confirm his plans following the finalisation of his elder brother Tej Pratap’s marriage in May. “You know, one should have the time for a honeymoon too, but where’s the time for that until the elections?” he asked in return mentioning that he has been inundated with proposals for quite some time. However, Tej Pratap is getting hitched to another RJD leader’s daughter, Aishwarya Roy in May. It was finalised in March. The offers came in on political stages too sharing the story of how a priest started showing matrimonials even on the dais.
Amidst laughter, he never forgot to take a swipe as Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi who has been a vehement critic of the Yadavs. Tejashwi was the deputy chief minister when RJD had coalition in Bihar with Nitish Kumar being at the helm. “Now I’m saying this, then he will tweet — how can he marry, first he will have to go to jail. Sushil Modi Keeps predicting every day that Tejashwi will have to go to jail in IRCTC scam,” the RJD leader said.
According to allegations from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Tejashwi along with his mother Rabri Devi are in fault. They had given a prime land in Patna in lieu of Lalu’s stake in a hotel contract manipulation just to work in favour of a particular company during Lalu’s tenure as Railway Minister.
Meanwhile, a rumour is still doing the rounds that Tejashwi and Tej Pratap have a soured relationship as the elder brother wanted a bigger role in the party, who is thought to be ‘no match’ to his younger brother’s political acumen.
