TDP will be rendered irrelevant after General Elections: KT Rama Rao

Day after registering a resounding victory in the state Assembly Elections in Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s son KT Rama Rao claimed that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will become irrelevant after the General Elections 2019.

“….some parties will be rendered irrelevant post April 2019 (after Lok Sabha elections),” KT Rama Rao was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. He also claimed that TRS would win 16 out of 17 seats in the General Elections 2019. He reacted after he was asked about TRS and TDP’s connection with the JD(S).

Naidu has recently called on JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy while seeking to form an anti-BJP front nationally. Months ago KCR did the same thing by meeting the Karnataka Chief Minister with proposal to form and federal front sans BJP and Congress.

“Today we have proven our worth in Telangana (by winning the Assembly elections) and I am very, very confident that we will also go back to Delhi again with 16 Members of Parliament from Telangana on TRS tickets,” Rama Rao was quoted.

“Therefore, how this situation will play out in Delhi tomorrow (in future), and how this number will become relevant in Delhi are something obviously to watch out for,” Rama Rao added.

Asked about promoting a non-Congress and non-BJP front, Rama said his party was not eyeing Delhi. “We are not merely trying to usurp the hot seat in Delhi. We have not been trying to bring about a coalition of political parties with the agenda of assuming office in Delhi. The intent is to change the narrative in Delhi,” he said.

“The intent is to show the world that a non-Congress, non-BJP formation can also work, strong regional parties coming together, stronger and saner voices being heard, changing the narrative, can’t just be ‘Rafale vs Bofors vs surgical strikes vs mandir etc, etc’,” the TRS leader said.
